FAQs

What happens during an Evaluation?

Your dog will come in for a look around so that they can see the facility. They will be introduced to some dogs individually so it is not overwhelming and we can observe behaviors when interacting with other dogs. Your dog will be evaluated by a handler for interactions while being on a leash, going in a crate, being touched, etc. We are looking at any behaviors that would make it difficult or impossible to be with other dogs safely. We’re happy to say that most dogs don’t have serious problems and they can join our pack.

My dog isn’t neutered. Can he come to day care?

We only accept dogs over the age of 6 months and they must be neutered or spayed before they can attend.

What shots and vaccinations are required for attendance?

The following vaccinations must be up to date before your dog can attend:

  • Rabies
  • Bordatella
  • Leptospirosis
  • Distemper
  • Influenza

There are no exceptions to this rule.

What happens if my pet is injured at day care?

Just like little kids, dogs may get some minor scratches or marks from playing. We keep a Dog First Aid Kit on premises to treat minor injuries as needed. All injuries, no matter how small, will be treated and reported to owners before the dog goes home each day.

What about more serious injuries?

Our staff is well trained in judging when it is necessary to break up play before it becomes too rough. If there is a fight, both dogs are removed from the play area immediately and checked thoroughly for injuries. Owners are called and if a wound is severe enough to warrant a vet visit, we do suggest that the owner pick up the dog and visit their own vet.

What happens if I can’t get there in time for pickup in the evening?

We understand that things can happen during the day we can’t control. Even traffic jams can cause us to be more than a few minutes late. If you think you’ll be late, even just a few minutes, please call so that we can make a plan for pickup. A staff member can wait for you for up to 10 minutes. If you will be delayed for longer or if we don’t receive a call after 10 minutes, we’ll set your dog up for a Sleepover and you can relax knowing your dog will be fed, exercised and have a safe, cozy place to stay over with people he/she knows. A charge of $31 will be added to your daily charge.

What if my dog needs daily medications?

We are able to administer medications as needed. You’ll be asked to sign a document detailing the medications and giving permission for us to medicate your dog according to the instructions on the medication.

Can my dog have a favorite blanket or toy in his crate at day care?

Yes, absolutely! Our regular clients can keep a blanket and toy with them so it’s always available at nap time.

Can my dog be taken for a walk in the neighborhood during the day?

Yes, a limited number of walks are available each day. Just make a request when you drop off. There is a $5 charge for a walk.

Do you offer individualized training?

At this time, we do not offer training as part of day care services, but we hope to do so soon. Would you prefer individual training sessions or would a group session be of interest? Let us know!

Will you offer full-service Grooming?

Right now we are doing only basic washes and services like nail trims, ear cleaning and tooth brushing. We plan to offer full-service grooming in the very near future.
